Trader Joe’s Bambino Pepperoni Pizza Review

Trader joe’s bambino pizza cooking instructions and Mini pizzas are simply amazing, aren’t they? We love these tempting little pizzas. When we saw Trader Joe’s Bambino Pepperoni Pizzas in the freezer section of our local Trader Joe’s, we knew we had to try them.

They’re available under the sub-brand Trader Giotto’s, which suggests they’re authentic Italian fare. Of course, Trader Joe’s isn’t kidding us; we’re pretty sure this type of pizza is more familiar to fans of brands like DiGiorno than to lovers of authentic Italian food.

But we digress…

Quarter slices per package, even though they’re packaged like two pizzas in one.

There are no microwave instructions at all, which is probably a good thing. We’re not sure how they would look in the old microwave packaging. We followed the instructions: Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit, place our pizzas (we made two) on a baking sheet, and bake for ten minutes. (Our pizza did take a few minutes longer to cook to perfection.)

The dough has a handmade feel: soft on the inside and crispy on the edges. It’s also very flavorful. A truly delicious dough and the absolute best thing about this pizza.

The box contains four pizzas, even though they’re packaged two to a box.

There are no microwave instructions at all here, which is probably a good thing. We’re not sure how they would turn out in an old-fashioned microwave. We followed the oven instructions, which tell us to preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit, place our pizzas (we made two) on a baking sheet, and bake for ten minutes. (Admittedly, ours took a few minutes longer to cook to perfection.)

The crust looks artisanal: soft on the inside and crispy on the edges. It’s also full of flavor. The crust is truly delicious and the absolute highlight of this pizza.

The rest of the pizza is nothing special, but it doesn’t need to be. The sauce is delicious and the cheese is wonderfully smooth. The pepperoni gets nice and crispy on the edges but stays nice and soft in the middle. It also has a nice bite and is incredibly flavorful.

One pizza has 280 calories (110 of which are fat), which isn’t bad at all. Of course, one pizza isn’t a complete meal—it’s much smaller than your average pizza—and eating two adds up to 560 calories, which is a bit much for a meal. Plus, one pizza has 790 mg of sodium, so two pizzas would be a real sodium disaster. Watch out, folks!

Trader Joe’s Bambino Pepperoni Pizzas take the tried-and-true frozen pizza and add a traditional crust. This trick alone elevates them from good to great. If you try them, be aware of the sodium content, but otherwise, we’re confident you’ll love these delicious treats.
